The Latin Quarter brings you Galway Abooo Festival
Something devilish is taking place Galway this Halloween. On the 30th and 31st of October, the city’s Latin Quarter will come alive with some free wicked entertainment for the first Galway Abooo Halloween Festival. From the country’s biggest fancy dress party to Michael Jacksons Thriller style dancing on the streets, all roads are leading to Galway!
Friday 30th October
The Big Fancy Dress Party
Its gonna be one helluva fancy dress party on Friday night in The Latin Quarter. From cafe, to restaurant to bar, everywhere you go the dress code is simple; fancy. Think ghoulish gear, creepy clobber , devilish dress, freaky fashion or boo bling....you get the idea. Just let your imagination go wild! Only one question for ye...who or what are you gonna be?
Keep it hush: there’s a bit of a rumour going around about a big prize for The Big Fancy Dress Party...Apparently the Galway Abooo Festival are giving someone 5000 big reasons to make a big effort! Listen into i Radio or check back in the here closer to the date for more updates!

Saturday 31st October
The Big ‘Little’ Fancy Dress Party
‘Anything you can do, I can do better’. Well kids, do you think that you can beat the grown-ups? The Big ‘Little’ Fancy Dress Party kicks off at 3pm in Galway City Museum. But we have a bit of challenge for you all, we are asking you to make a costume that is environmentally friendly. So the challenge is set...but the theme is completely up to you.
Time: Saturday @ 2pm

Trick or Treat
Pick up your Trick or Treat bag or bring your own and come and ‘Trick or Treat’. The Latin Quarter businesses have come together to organise a street-wide trick or treat. This will start at 3pm, just after The Big ‘Little’ Fancy Dress Party. Dotted through The Latin Quarter will be loads of Trick or Treat stands where you can come and collect loads of goodies....

Re-Awakening Halloween Party Games
They’re Back! Apple on a string, grape on a flour mountain, dunking apples...yeah you know that you are gonna love them! And the good news is that they are back on the streets in The Latin Quarter on Saturday. As you wind your way through the medieval streets you will come across your favourite traditional party games.

Michael Jackson Thriller - Calling All Zombies!
Attention MJ Thriller video wannabies....you are gonna get your chance to take part in a huge re-enactment of the Thriller video in the Latin Quarter on Saturday afternoon. Shamone! Missing this would be a nightmare. Our good friends at i Radio are going to ‘lead us all on our scary dance’ and their website will feature lots more information on dance moves – www.iradio.ie. Only one thing left to say...He Heeeee!

Saturday Night Spooktacular Spectecle
The Galway Abooo Festival reaches its finale with the Saturday Night ‘Spooktacular Street Show’. The medieval streets are once again the stage for street performances spread across the Latin Quarter. Then you will be led to St.Nicholas’ Church where all of the performers will join together for one magical show.
Time/Venue: 8pm start on the streets, leading to a display at 8.40pm at St. Nicholas’ Church

Irish Rail will be running ‘Ghost Trains’ at a special rate of €10e/w on selected trains from Dublin.
